Cafe Nero - 2nd September 2006
August slipped by without a visit to the cafe. It was a busy month. As usually happens
when I take a break from the cafe for a while, I thoroughly enjoyed myself yesterday.
Although I only got three drawings done, I'm pretty happy with all of them, which
makes a change. Also, the last one was my 100th cafe drawing, in addition to being the
last one in my second cafe sketch pad, a nice bit of synchronicity. It's late Sunday
night as I write this, I ate eleven Yorkshire puddings with my dinner, and I really don't
have the energy for a full write up, so it's pretty
much pictures only today.
I knew this guy was familiar. I last drew him from the side on the
25th of February -
he's the fourth drawing down.
This one is another reprise, I drew her on my
last trip.
Thankfully, this one is a much better likeness.
So here it is, my 100th cafe sketch. A milestone. This was a difficult drawing though,
one of those one's where the guy has ants in his pants and can't sit still. These days, instead
of giving up when that happens, I try to get an average of the various positions someone takes.
I'm sure that's very good practice, but I'm not sure what for exactly. Visual memory, maybe.
Although the drawing looks alright, the likeness isn't good, perhaps unsurprisingly.
