Lemon and Fig – Still life Drawing Number Twenty Five

September 14, 2006 By: Paulcomment

Still life drawing number twenty-five - lemon and fig

Charcoal and white conte

This drawing was less than successful. I decided for this one to do a drawing without the aid of tools,no framer, no little grid. Although tools like the framer can be very useful, I think it’s a good idea to see of you can do without them every now and again, to avoid complacency and to reduce dependency on them.

Well, I’m certainly not complacent about this drawing, it’s awful. The main problem is the balance of tones,it’s nowhere near. Getting the side of the fig in light actually a lighter tone than the lemon in plainly wrong. Lets just move quietly on and not talk about this one any more.
