Self Portrait Drawing, 24th December 2005

Fifteenth in the series – a self portrait a day until Christmas.

Fifteenth drawing and the last one. For this one I intended to do the same thing as yesterday but to finishthe drawing more.

Everything was done the same as yesterday’s, I just worked on it for longer, about four hours this time. That’s the longest I’ve spent on a drawing so far, at least the first hour was spent just on layingthings out and correcting. Again, no measurement in this one, just relating shapes and adjusting as I went along.

I’m quite happy with this one, for me it’s the best of the bunch. It’s the strongest drawing, has thestrongest feeling of light and I think is the best likeness. There’s still some bits out of whack whichspoils the likeness a bit, most notably the left side of the face (as you look at the drawing), and themouth is too narrow, but overall I’mpleased I’ve finished the project on a high note.

A combination of carrying the Christmas shopping home and then doing a four hour drawing buggered my rightshouder, repetitive stress or something, I think I pulled a muscle. It’s just as well this was the last one sinceI couldn’t lift my arm on Christmas day never mind do a drawing, it made cooking Christmas dinner interesting.Today it’s a bit better so hopefully I can get back to drawing tomorrow.
