In February 2016, I became very ill with a rare disease called retroperitoneal fibrosis. For quite a while, too long, it wasn’t diagnosed or treated. To hear the nurses tell it, I’m lucky to be alive. You can read more about that here.
The experience changed me.
I resolved to remind myself of what’s important by, every now and again, taking some time out to appreciate something fully.
The way I do that is to draw something, adding a word or two (sometimes directly related, sometimes more oblique) to describe something I’m grateful for. I call them my gifts of gratitude.
I post these drawings on Facebook and Instagram, together with a little descriptions of my feelings about each gift. I also email them out to people who have subscribed to receive them. If you’d like to get a gift of gratitude in your in box now and again, just add your email address below.
I won’t ever send you anything else but the daily gift (unless you ask me to by signing up for something else.)
