Eye Drawing Number Two

Eye drawing number two

Second in the series, twenty drawings of eyes.

This eye comes from a portrait byGian Lorenzo Bernini,a 17th century baroque artist.

The picture I copied it from comes from a book of plates called”Great Portrait Drawings and Prints“, alsofrom the Dover Art Library. If you’re in the UK you can get a lot of their publications on amazon. I recommendthem.

The original is one of those strange portraits where the subject is smiling. I wonder if the sitters gotface-ache from portraits like that, sitting smiling for so long. Its a beautiful drawing though, and even inthe eye I think you can see the open, honest quality the face has.
