The fifth live session will be here on:
Tuesday 15th Febuary
6PM UK time (1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific check the time in your time zone here)
What we’ll be doing
In this final session on this piece, we’ll be adding the lemon and its reflections on the little silver jug.
The key here is to make sure that we continue to keep careful control of the values so that we keep the highlights on the little jug as the highest values in the painting to make sure we keep the impression of silver.
This is an exciting phase of the painting, because we’ll finally get to see all of the panel covered, when the magic moment of seeing all the relationships working together happens.
We’ll be mixing the colours for the lemon live in the session. But if you want to have a go at them before hand, they are:
- 2.5Y 8/14
- 2.5Y 7/12
- 2.5Y 7/6
- 7.5YR 3/6
What you’ll need
Your painting from the previous week with the second stage completed.
Medium: Linseed oil (refined or cold pressed) and a solvent – we’ll be working into a couch (a thin layer of medium applied to the panel before painting).
- Lead and/or titanium white
- Ivory black
- Raw Umber
- Transparent red oxide
- Cadmium yellow
It will print out 8 x 10 inches if you print it at the same scale as the image, but I’d caution against using a print out for values – just use it for drawing out if you prefer to work from a “hard” copy.
