Folds and Reflections Session Seven – The Brass Pot – Glazing and Finishing

The seventh live session will be here on:

Monday 28th Febuary

at

6PM UK time (1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific check the time in your time zone here)

What we’ll be doing

In this final session I’ll be adding glazes for colour correction and some detail to the pot – mostly adding the patina on the surface and trying to give it more form.

It’s possible the lemons might get a little attention too, but the focus of the composition is the pot so most of the time will be spent there.

Your painting may be at a different stage to mine, and will certainly need different areas changed and adjusted, so look at this session as a demonstration of an approach that you can use to improve your own work.

What you’ll need

Your painting from the previous session.

Medium: Linseed oil (refined or cold pressed) and a solvent

Paints:

  • Lead and/or titanium white
  • Ivory black

It will print out 8 x 10 inches if you print it at the same scale as the image, but I’d caution against using a print out for values – just use it for drawing out if you prefer to work from a “hard” copy.
