What we’ll be doing
It’s time now to move on to the final painting!
So far, we’ve looked in detail at variopus aspects of the subject:L The values, a colour block in of a cropped down subject, some more detail and smaller forms on the rose and the cloth in some detail.
I want you to keep all your studies to hand now as we enter teh final stages of the workshop.
In this session, we’ll be doing a full colour block in of the whole subject on a 12 x 16 panel. This block in will be the first layer of our final painting.
What you’ll need
16 x 12 inch ampersand panel
Linseed oil and your solvent of choice
The same brushes you’ve used so far will be fine.
Tube paints:
- Titanium white
- Lead white
- Ivory black
- Raw Umber
- Quinacridone Rose
- Magenta
- Ultramarine blue
- Phthalo green
- yellow ochre
- bright yellow lake
Preparation
Please have the colours from session three and those from the additional mixing video mixed and ready to go before we start, so that we can get straight on with applying the paint as soon as we’ve roughed out the drawing.
You’ve already mixed all these colours at least once, so hopefully it won’t take too long to have them ready for the session!
