The fifth session will be here at:
6PM UK time (1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific, check your time zone here)
on:
Monday 30th August
What we’ll be Doing
In this session, we’ll be focusing on those two strong Juliet roses at the front of the composition, correcting any value and chroma mistakes, resolving the smaller forms and adding enough detail and edge refinement to make them sing as the main focus of the composition
What you’ll need
Bring your painting from the previous week. If your painting isn’t sufficiently dry to work on, you may need to just watch this week and paint along later when it’s dry enough. Your block in should be touch dry by now. But if it isn’t, adding a layer of oil over it will lift the paint and likely create problems.
Please also have the following colours pre-mixed – the same ones we had premixed for the last session.

Brushes: The ones you’ve been using so far: mostly flat synthetics, some hog filberts if you like to use them for the background, a large, soft brush for blending
Palette:
- Titanium white
- Flake (lead) white
- Cadmium yellow
- Bright Yellow Lake
- Yellow Ochre
- Quinacridone Rose
- Transparent red oxide
- Raw umber
- Ivory Black
- Phthalo green
Medium: Linseed oil. For subsequent oiling out of areas before working over them, I recommend using only oil in order to keep to the “fat over lean” rule.
