The live session will bere on:
Wednesday 11th November at 6PM Uk time (10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern).
For this workshop, we’ll studying a subject with two clear local colours, initially in value only.
The locals are very different both in value and hue, so there will be some interesting lessons to learn modulating them both from light to shadow.
What you’ll need
You’ll want to have a five step value scale mixed up and ready, and if you can, have the subject drawn out ready in straight line block in.
We’ll be working 8 x 10, the photos below should print off to that size if you want to print them – but working from a screen is usually better.
We’ll be working into a couch, so having some linseed oil and a solvent to hand will be useful too. The couch will be a mix of linseed oil and solvent. You can do it just with Gamsol, say, but it does set up and start to dry quite quickly!
Reference Photos
The first image is a black and white version of the subject with the value scale.
The second is supplied with a grid to help with blocking in the drawing.
Teh third is a pixelated version which will hopefully help with judging hte values. It’s a good idea to be able to swap from this one to the fiorst image as we paint the study.
I’ve inlcuded a full colour version too, so you can see what we’ll be playing with next week 🙂
